SASO/SALEEM Product Safety Program



CTUV is authorized by SASO (Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization) to issue Certificates of Conformity for exports of regulated products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


The SALEEM program, issued by the SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization), aims to regulate and ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of products imported into Saudi Arabia. SALEEM stands for "Saudi Product Safety Program.

SASO categorizes products under different risk assessments, which are further classified into specific conformity processes.

The SALEEM program focuses on protecting consumers and the environment by establishing and enforcing strict standards for various product categories. These standards cover a wide range of goods, including electrical appliances, toys, cosmetics, chemicals, building materials, etc.

Process of the SALEEM Program

The SALEEM program involves a process that importers must follow to ensure their products comply with the established standards. The key steps in the process typically include


Registration

Importers need to register with the SASO and to participate in the SABER system


Product Testing

Importers must ensure that their products undergo rigorous testing in accredited laboratories to verify compliance with the relevant standards. Testing may include performance, safety, and quality assessments.


Product Certificate of Conformity

Once the products pass the testing phase, importers are required to obtain a Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) for each product. The CoC serves as proof of compliance and is issued by SASO-approved certification bodies.


Shipment Conformity of Certificate

Importers must provide the required documentation, including the PCoC, CoC to demonstrate compliance with the program's requirements.


Market Surveillance

SASO conducts regular market surveillance activities to monitor compliance and ensure that products in the Saudi market continue to meet the necessary standards
